Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga suitable for all people. Postures can be held for 5 minutes or more. Yin targets connective tissues in our bodies to help release emotional and physical trauma. Sound healing is a ancient practice backed by modern scientific research. It uses vibrations to relax the body and mind, raise our consciousness, and heal our planet. This class invites you to relax into yin poses and absorb the sounds of singing bowls, chimes, mantras, harmonium, and, of course, the natural sounds of the Arboretum.

Gentle Yoga is for people of any age, including seniors and those with minor physical ailments, who prefer a more relaxed practice. Gentle Yoga introduces the basic foundations of any yoga practice by introducing proper alignment of yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and dhyana (guided meditation). Working gently, slowly, and compassionately, this class develops strength, flexibility, peacefulness, and clarity.

Relax your mind, body and spirit while embracing the start of the fall season at the Arboretum's Autumn Yoga Retreat. We will start the day with a light breakfast at the Learning Shelter near the Red Barn at the Farm at the Arb before breaking into smaller groups for the retreat. As we cycle through three different class rotations throughout the day, every participant can select the class that's right for them. From vinyasa and yin classes to acupressure tapping and T’ai Chi Chih, our Yoga in the Gardens partner studios offer something for everyone! Halfway through the day, we will break for an hour-long lunch break. The retreat will close with a blissful yoga nidra session. Both full and half-day retreat options are available.

These full day retreats at the Arb are some of my favorite days of the year! I will be teaching a Gentle Yoga class and definitely staying for the whole day. Find more details and register here
