Background
I learned about these Three Supports in my yoga teacher training. They are rooted in the teachings of Swami Kripalu and reflect the integrated approach to spiritual life embraced at Kripalu Center. These supports are not part of a fixed doctrine, but rather a lived framework passed down through teacher-student relationships. They represent the core ways we deepen our understanding of the self (sadhana), embody that understanding through compassionate action (seva), and nurture it within a community of fellow seekers (sangha). This list reflects long-standing principles in Kripalu Yoga and aligns with broader traditions in the yoga and meditation world.
